There are three parts to the overall blog. This is Part One.
Now that the dust as settled after the Christmas Road Trip and I have sorted through the mountain of pictures, maybe a good time to show a few pictures of the trip.
The memories of the trip stay with you forever, but when you capture imagines from your travels these add to the whole experience and sometimes even a smile is generated when you notice the picture, that may describe a funny event.
Lets look at the first hotel. The Centara Resort at Ko Lak.
I did not use the front pool, but as you can see the design is very nice. Good for swimming and the ocean view is very good. The pool looks out to the ocean.
This trip was a family occasion so my wife decided to cook the Christmas Dinner. All the usual faire and the whole meal was fantastic, thanks Mrs Edwards.
The whole stay in Phuket was excellent, many beautiful places to check out. Go along the Gibbon Sanctuary, there you will be given a vocal documentary about the cruel treatment these lovely creatures have to endear and what they are made to do in the pursuit of money for their owners. You can in fact volunteer to work at the centre.
I put a link on my first blog at letsgotakepictures.wordpress.com take a look if you are interested in helping out there.
On my way around the island I came upon a stretch of beach with a small pier, this is to the east side of Phuket, here you find not so many beaches. This area is where the local fishermen live work and survive. On this occasion I managed to click off a couple of great portraits of the local people.
This guy was great, I did ask first and he was more than willing for me to capture his portrait. In the same shop there was a nice lady who again let me take a picture. What a smile.
Moving along the seafront from the local shops I came across an old sunken fishing boat, which was just to good to miss.
The beaches around Phuket are varied with a number of outstanding to just OK. The beach at Nai Narm is a good beach, but go to the north end as it can get a little bit busy during the day.
Roaming around the beach at the north end the is a small peninsula which is rocky. This makes a marvellous place to find small crabs and fish. If you are like me, I can never keep still so these little expeditions are a god send for me and my wife.
So that is about it for Phuket, see you in the next blog: Krabi.
